CES 2009: Electronic Cigarettes & Cigars

Nicotine isn’t the only addicting quality of cigarettes. There is also the ACT of smoking that people miss. There were several companies at CES this year who showcased their electronic cigarettes and cigars. Here is a great demonstration from E-Cig.

CES 2009: E-Cig by LauraMoncur from FlickrI haven’t smoked since I was nineteen years old, but back then, something like this would have made me feel ALOT better when I was smoking to look cool. The only problem with it is it stays the same size. It never gets smaller like a real cigarette does. The end lights up and a harmless steam smoke comes out of your mouth (not your nose, though).

I could see these products being useful for props in the movie industry for actors who don’t smoke who want to play characters that do. Even HD would be completely unable to tell the difference between an E-Cig and a real cigarette.

E-Cig wasn’t the only company exhibiting electronic cigarettes. Desonic also had a WIDE collection of electronic smoking paraphernalia.

I can smell a cigar a block away, so if I saw someone smoking an electronic cigar, I’d KNOW it wasn’t a real one. The electronic cigarettes are MUCH more realistic.

Whether these gadgets could help you quit smoking is another question. A nicotine patch can take care of the cravings, but the electronic cigarette only handles the habit. If you want to stop going out to the smoker’s patio several times a day, an electronic cigarette won’t help you.

Additionally, I haven’t smoked for YEARS, but seeing these electronic smoking gadgets made me want to start again. How crazy is that?!

  1. You forgot to list Green Smoke. They are the best one on the market in my humble opinion. They have a fresh atomizer with every replacement cartridge. No clogs and produces the most smoke volume. Not made in China. USA made! I could go on and on, but you should check out the video on the site of users in Miami getting a look at the product for the first time. They were blown away. The site has all the info you will need to make an informed decision. Make the right choice. There are many cheap imitations out there. Beware especially of the Super Cigarette.   2. This is a response to Paul’s comments about the Green Smoke electronic cigarettes being manufactured in the US. If this is so, I would like to know who the manufacturer is and where they are located in the United States; because NO electronic cigarette manufacturer is in the United States. China is the ONLY place that manufactures the e-liquid and the actual device itself. The Green Smoke packaging and pictures on the webpage are possibly in relation to another e-smoking company, Smoke Fifty-One. I personally believe that Fifty-one may be operating under a different name. I am not the only one to suspect this- CHECK OUT THE E-CIGARETTE FORUMS!

  3. Hey guys. These are really cool devices… I have actually have one myself… but when I puff on my device, the tip actually lights up blue. Here is where I got it from: http://www.electroniccigarettesource.com Anyways it is easier to get away with it at places where they ban smoking. I think I can get use to smoking my E cig. Anyways these smoking devices are healthier than regular cigs, because you are taking in water vapor. And they are great conversation starters at clubs and bars.

  4. Nice article, in fact there are many e-cigarette companies which are selling over their own websites, not only over amazon. I got mine from http://www.new-smoke.com E-cigarettes are increasingly being mentioned in the press as well, seems like they are getting more and more popular. Laura, reg. your statement on late night commercial slots – i think that’s happening now already! some countries ban tobacco advertising, but in countries where it’s not banned you can already see e-cig ads on tv..

  5. The post is really informative. Personally, I feel that the revolutionary electronic cigarette is the best option for the smokers who want to quit smoking altogether as well as enjoy their urge for nicotine. Also, by smoking the electronic cigarette, you are not going to violate the rules against smoking. While purchasing the smokeless cigarette look for the accessories and refill programs available with it.

  6. This post is really informative. If you can’t leave your smoking habit immediately you can switch to the smokeless electronic cigarette or e-cigs with which you can really save yourself and your surroundings from the risks that are associated with smoking any traditional cigarette.

  7. This was a very well conceived article. I do think that some people will want to use an Electronic Cigarettes to quit smoking traditional cigarettes by using. There are some of us however that are not wanting to quit, but instead opt for a healthier option. I am very thankful that Electronic Cigarettes were invented. I currently use a Gamucci Classic e-cig. Would love to hear what type others have used.

  9. Green Smoke is not at the address they claim to be. 3551 Magellan Circle #426 FL, USA is the address they give on a fraudulent MSD safety report. This is a residence that lacks any link to Green Smoke. The MSD report gives false contact email. It’d be great if these were made in the U.S, at least we tend to do things by the book instead of trying to scam people.

  10. Hi Everyone, I haven’t been back here since January of 2009 when I made the first post. Wow. I didn’t realize that this would anger people and that some people would be saying that GreenSmoke was part of some conspiracy scam. LOL @isaiah I went and dug up the info for you. They “were” at Magellan Circle at one point. I heard from someone that this is where they started when they were a small company.   11. Paul’s comments amount to nothing more than a repetitive and uniformative advertisement for greensmoke. The misinformation about Made in the USA is a prime example of why people shouldnt trust any statements from e-gig companies at this time.

  12. These are great to reduce smoking cigarettes. A great thing is that it does not bother people around you,no second hand smoke is a great benefit. It’s cool that you have some of the models I carry pictured. Be sure not to overpay for your e-cigarette! I find it very skeptical of any company that claims they are made in USA. Read the fine print they probably say (parts made in china,but assembled in USA) Which means an american screwed the atomizer into the battery.   13. Testimonal: I smoked about 2 packs a day for over 44 years…that was until I bought my first e-cig. Now I cannot imagine EVER going back to tobacco.
